HEALTH UPDATES FROM LINDSAY MALAKZAI - OUR DESIGNATED CLINICAL OFFICER
Update on accompanying children to hospital 1 April 2020
Dear Parents and Carers,
To help understand if a parent / carer can attend hospital with a son or daughter we have sought advice from local hospitals.
This is the update 1st April 2020 from Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, includes Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Young adults with Learning Disability and Autism also have rights to adjustments. The guidance is the same for the Bexley health facilties. Young adults with disabilities also have rights to adjustments.
" Our guidance is that children are to be accompanied by an adult or carer if they need to attend the hospital.
We prefer one visitor although understand that there may be some situations where this may not be possible.
This will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
For those young people 16-18 years with special education needs we agree that a parent or carer should accompany them.
In all cases we ask that visitors do not accompany any child if you yourself are symptomatic, or live in a household where a household member has symptoms as per the National Guidance. "
