Why become a Bexley Voice volunteer?
Volunteering is rewarding and enjoyable. You can make friends, share experiences and utilise your existing knowledge and skills.
You will need to have some spare time, commitment and passion!
Volunteers support Bexley Voice in wide variety of ways - often learning new skills in the process and gaining confidence, that benefits other areas of their life.
Our motto is ‘Together we can make a difference’.
The majority of Bexley Voice meetings and events take place during school hours/term time. We are parents/carers/relatives of children with special needs and understand that during school holidays, our commitment is to our own families.
As a volunteer, you will be required to:

As a volunteer you may want to be actively involved in:
· The Bexley Voice Operating Committee or sub-groups.
· Our School Visit Programme - organising and or delivering.
· Our parent/carer Tea and Talk support groups, making tea/coffee and helping new members.
· Supporting our Membership Secretary with entering and updating information onto our membership database.
· Supporting our Secretary with general administration
· Attending meetings and events to represent Bexley Voice locally, regionally and nationally. Feeding back to the BV team.
· Supporting our Treasurer with account preparation and financial reporting.
· Organising meetings, workshops.
· Assisting with the development and promotion of various consultations.
· Proof reading documents/website.
· Production of regular BV Ebulletins to members.

As a volunteer, you will be required to:

- Be a parent/carer of someone under 25 with special/additional needs or a disability.
- Have a genuine passion to help support and follow the aims of Bexley Voice.
- Complete an appropriate induction.
- Be clear on our vision/mission and aims.
- Be realistic about the time and commitment you are able to offer/responsibilities you take on.
- Use the appropriate forms and process if you wish to reclaim agreed expenses.
- Ensure any roles/responsibilities that you have agreed to are ‘covered’ by an appropriate team member during your absence.
- Attend meetings - depending on the role undertaken. If you are unable to attend a meeting, you will be required to update any previous personal action points prior to the meeting date.
- Where your red top/lanyard when attending/supporting any event with parent/carers or the general public, for Bexley Voice.
- When attending meetings as a BV rep - arrive promptly and with any appropriate paperwork.
- Keep any information received confidential under the General Data Protection Regulations 2016.
- Attend any relevant training necessary.
