Bexley Integrated Transport Service (BITU) Once travel assistance has been agreed any concerns regarding the provision of the service should be made to BITU email: bitu@bexley.gov.uk or write to BITU: Civic Offices, 2 Watling Street, Bexleyheath DA6 7AT or call 020 8303 7777 and ask for BITU. Bexley Accessible Transport Scheme (BATS) Parents/carers of pupils who are not eligible for travel assistance from the Council but would like their child to be travel trained, can make enquiries to BATS by calling: 013 2231 1333 or by visiting www.bexleyct.co.uk. |
2019 Travel Assistance Appeals: If an application for travel assistance is not approved by the Council, or the parent/carer disagrees with the type of assistance being offered, parent/carers have a right of appeal. BITS (Bexley Independent Travel Scheme) Travel Training is available to socially-disadvantaged children and SEN children and adults with learning, mobility, mental health or sensory difficulties in Bexley and can be booked by a special needs school, care provider or by Bexley council to assist an individual in becoming independent and confident using public transport.

Advocacy support
Sentas can support your appeal against an LA decision to refuse to provide home to school/college transport from start to finish. This involves writing all appeal letters, liaising with the LA on your behalf (should you wish) and making a complaint to the local Government ombudsman should we not win the case using the Local Authority internal appeals process.
Fees – £50 to take on your transport case from start to finish, through the Local Authority home to school transport appeals process and including complaints to the Local Government Ombudsman should this be required. Should we fail to win your case we will return you £25.
For families on Low Income (i.e household income less than £17,000) this charge is halved and should we fail to win your case we will return you £10.
